Title: Quasiregular Julia Sets with Differing Dimensions
Abstract: There has been a great deal of research into the possible fractal dimensions of Julia sets. Two examples of such fractal dimension are the packing and Hausdorff dimensions. As far as we are aware, it is still an open question whether these two types of dimensions can differ for a Julia set of a polynomial. However, the Julia set of a quasiregular map of polynomial-type may exhibit this property. We present a construction of such a quasiregular map whose Julia set is in fact a Bedford-McMullen carpet. Moreover, we hope to present some interesting results concerning the dimension of Julia sets of uniformly quasiregular maps of the n-sphere, for n greater than or equal to 2. We show it is possible to realise certain Cantor sets, with prescribed packing and Hausdorff dimension, as the Julia sets of uniformly quasiregular maps.
