Andrew Smith has a background as a former network manager, working for various organisations in the 1990’s before becoming a further education college lecturer in 1996.

Having set up a Cisco Regional Academy at Barnfield College in Luton in 1999, Andrew has worked on a variety of projects. Including the development of the BTEC suite of qualifications, embedding of vendor qualification into the QCF, author of many text-books and documentation of the Packet Tracer simulation environment.

Andrew is currently a senior lecturer and has worked full time for the Open University since 2008, having been a consultant and associate lecturer since 2003. Andrew now leads the Cisco Academy ASC at the Open University.

Andrew exists as @teraknor on twitter, has his own blog and curates a variety of social media communities. Andrew leads all mode 1 and Mode 3 academies with the support of Paul and Kevin amongst others. In terms of structure at the OU ASC - Andrew leads as notional 'Director' of the ASC with the support of Kevin and Paul. Unlike many structures, this ASC is run as a team of equals.

Paul Wallin is a Chartered Electrical Engineer and a full member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology and has been an Associate Lecturer with the Open University since 2006. He has over 30 years of teaching experience in engineering and computing at 3 different higher educational institutions.

Having been qualified as a Cisco instructor for over 10 years and responsible for the setup of the Regional Cisco Academy at Kingston University in 2004. Paul led the transition of the Regional Cisco Academy to become a Cisco Academy Support Centre (ASC) and an Instructor Training Centre (ITC) at Kingston University.

Paul has completed the Open University Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Networking, covering CCNP and CCNA-S skills as well as getting back into the student mindset.

In terms of ASC structure, Paul is a 'joint manager' with Kevin Large.

Kevin Large has been an instructor with the Cisco Academy programme since 2002. Formerly working for the Barnfield College regional academy. Able to teach CCNA R+S, CCNA Security and CCNP Route, Switch and TShoot. Kevin is also the Instructor Trainer at the instructor training centre affiliated with the Open University ASC.

As training manager for UK Skills, he selects and coaches young hopefuls for the international biannual WorldSkills competitions. Having helped UK competitors climb the international league tables. He is also the global deputy chief expert for IT Network Administration.

In addition, Kevin works as a freelance trainer, running his own company as well as working with different Further Education Colleges and training providers. Along with being a tutor on the MSc Advanced Networking programme at the Open University.

Kevin, like Paul manages Mode 2 academies.
