The name Wooden Mallet carries a personal significance. Originally chosen by my dear friend Charles Joubert for his carpentry business, it now serves as a tribute to him after his passing due to complications from diabetes. While I continue to use PlebDIY for my personal projects, Wooden Mallet is the banner under which I share articles and insights about carpentry—a small way to honour Charles’ creativity and passion.
For now, I have posted about two concept projects I’ve been developing and visualising through Blender videos.Â
One idea is a versatile workbench designed with interchangeable inserts for hand-held power tools: a circular saw transforms it into a saw table, a jig saw turns it into a scroll saw, and swapping in a router converts it into a routing station—bringing flexibility and innovation to the workshop.
Another concept is a clever three-in-one unit for compact spaces: by day, it functions as a level desk for work; by night, it becomes a comfortable bed; and with a simple pull-out mechanism, it turns into a cosy settee for visiting guests—perfect for maximising space without compromising style.
Three in one (Bed by night, Workstation and Entertainment Area by day)
Have made a new design, but still have to create it in Blender
Patience asked. Content coming—just slower than I’d like. My second job as a driver keeps me busy, but the placeholders won’t last forever.
