No teacher preparation program, to riff on a Simon and Garfunkel tune, is an island. To acknowledge this reality and to animate this year’s theme, the Symposium will provide a forum for us to explore together the possibilities of a renewed vision for teacher preparation in Ontario.

More specifically, the Symposium will offer formal and informal opportunities to have appreciative conversations that act as mirrors of current principles and practices, offer windows into new possibilities and open doorways to strengthening our partnerships in support of innovative teacher preparation in Ontario’s publicly funded education system.

We have designed an exciting program that includes an opening panel of Associate Teachers on Friday evening to whet our appetite and curiosity, ahead of an immersive appreciative inquiry process on Saturday morning, led by Jim Strachan. On Saturday afternoon we will be treated to a carousel presented by OTF Curriculum Forum members to add to our toolkit of resources and professional learning, all bound to support teacher candidates, the new generation of the teaching profession.

We hope you will join us to add your wisdom and experience to the tapestry we will begin to weave…together.
