Introduction:
Osteopathy has been defined as a patient centred healthcare discipline, based on the principles of interrelatedness between the structure and the function of the body, the innate ability of the body for self-healing and on adopting a whole person approach to health mainly by practicing manual treatment. Osteopathic philosophy and practice is congruent with the biopsychosocial model, by adopting a whole person approach to illness and by acknowledging that psychological factors may have a profound effect on physiology and homeostasis.
