Welcome to SAC 2025
The 40th ACM/SIGAPP Symposium On Applied Computing
Operating Systems and Software Platforms
The technical track on Operating Systems and Software Platforms (OSSP) of the ACM/SIGAPP Symposium on Applied Computing (SAC 2025) will be held in Sicily, Italy
Track Chairs : Jinman Jung (jmjung@inha.ac.kr), and Joonhyouk Jang (jhjang@hnu.kr)
Scope
This track aims to share research results and experiences in the Operating System and Software Platforms field with researchers and developers. In recent years, we have noticed tremendous growth in the demand for highly-efficient operating systems in various fields. At the same time, software platforms have also become more and more complex, and it imposes new challenging issues never faced before in this field. It is thus clear that nowadays the development and design of operating systems must rely, even more than in the recent past, on specific solutions both in the hardware and in the software components. Moreover, the need to timely tackle changes in the market pushes toward the employment of methodologies to shorten the development time and thrive the evolution of existing products. The solutions to new problems emerging in this setting call for a joint effort from academics and industry.
The designs of high-performance operating systems and software platforms must take into account a wide variety of constraints: Performance, code size, real-time performance, maintainability, energy efficiency, and scalability. This track provides a forum for the presentation of high-quality, original research covering all aspects of operating systems and software platforms design, analysis, implementation, evaluation, and case studies. Many research issues remain open from the limited battery to remote access control, interaction with external devices, assurance in quality of service, context-aware adaptation to the environment, interface modeling, security, and privacy problems that are obstacles to thriving the operating system and software platform technologies. This track focused on all of these research issues related to operating systems and software platforms.
The Major topics of this track include but are not limited to the following:
Operating systems
Virtualization technology
Networking, storage simulation techniques for operating systems
Distributed operating systems or parallel operating systems code
Fault tolerance and robustness for operating systems
Scheduling and discrete optimization of systems with timing constraints
Mobile platform and mobile applications
Embedded system application framework
Software platforms in cloud computing
Technologies for vehicular cloud computing
Software platforms for mobile and handheld devices
Location based services and device tracking
Mobile remote access infrastructure
Battery monitoring and energy saving algorithm
Information and services
Security of mobile platforms and devices

Paper Submission
Authors are invited to submit original papers in all areas of experimental computing and application development for the technical program via the Software Platforms track hosted by SAC 2025. Submissions fall into the following categories:
Original and unpublished research work
Reports of innovative computing applications in the arts, sciences, engineering, and business areas
Reports of successful technology transfer to new problem domains
Reports of industrial experience and demos of new innovative systems
The file format should be in PDF. The author(s) name(s) and address(es) must not appear in the body of the paper, and self-reference should be in the third person. All papers will be fully refereed and undergo a double blind review process by at least three referees.
Prospective papers should be submitted to the track using the START submission system. Submission of the same paper to multiple tracks is not allowed. For more information please visit SAC 2025 Website
SAC No-Show Policy
Paper registration is required, allowing the inclusion of the papers and posters in the conference proceedings. An author or a proxy attending SAC MUST present the paper. This is a requirement for all accepted papers, posters, and invited SRC submissions to be included in the ACM digital library. No-show of scheduled papers, posters, and student research abstracts will result in excluding them from the ACM digital library.
Authors who cannot make on-site presentations due to travel restrictions by governments or institutions, or those for whom travel is inadvisable due to medical reasons may request to present their materials online.
"A new ACM proceedings template was released recently with the following changes:
1. references are in APA style
2. from 2nd page and on, a header is there having conference location (on left) and first author's last name on right (similar to journal articles)
All camera-ready submission should use the new template, which can be downloaded from https://www.sigapp.org/sac/sac2025/downloads.html."
Requirements
Paper registration is required, allowing the inclusion of the paper/poster in the conference proceedings. An author or a proxy attending SAC MUST present the paper: This is a requirement for the paper/poster to be included in the ACM/IEEE digital library. No-show of scheduled papers and posters will result in excluding them from the ACM/IEEE digital library."
