Old South Haven Presbyterian Church
Are people with
Open Hearts, Open Minds, Anchored in Christâs Love
The Membership module is the heart of OSHPCâs MS (CDM+). âMembersâ in the context of this module refer not only to formal members of OSHPC but to all our âOSHPC Contactsâ .
Functions of the Contributions and Accounting modules access data in the Membership module. Vendors, Employees, Visitors, and Prospects are tied to address records. Here are the records for members, friends, visitors, and anyone else we wish to include, such as other church leaders, denominations, and organizations.Â
Beyond merely keeping track of names, addresses, and phone numbers, they can be individually assigned to different affinity or distribution groups. The Membership module contains personalized information, such as birth, baptism, confirmation, membership transfers, marriage, and death dates, in a common, accessible location.Â
A well-maintained membership (contacts) ledger is vital for the leadership of OSHPC, as it enables effective communication, organized outreach, and informed decision-making. The church's subscription to CDM+âs user-friendly online application makes it easier to keep this ledger accurate and accessible. This tool simplifies updates and ensures all information is readily available when needed. By actively using this program, staff and volunteers can strengthen connections within the congregation and support the church's mission with greater efficiency.Â
OSHPC currently has no one with the overall responsibility of maintaining the Membership Module. The Clerk maintains the official Member Rolls. The Financial Secretary maintains the Giving Ledger. OSHPCâs aggregate contact information, vital to the churchâs outreach and fellowship missions, is not comprehensively maintained. Perhaps a Membership Secretary should be appointed, perhaps as a member of the Board of Deacons, to maintain the membership ledger.
Anyone who has been given authorization to access the online OSHPC MS (CDM+) has been given View privileges to the Membership-Contacts module of CDM+. Those responsible for maintaining the OSHPC records have also been granted Add and Edit privileges. These include the Minister*, Clerk*, Treasurer, Financial Secretary, Membership-Contacts Secretary*, Stewardship Chair*-- these people are most likely to be aware of changes in the status of members, friends, and visitors.
