Practices and Procedures

These practices and procedures are provided to assist the staff and volunteers at the Old South Haven Presbyterian Church.  They were originally developed during the Summer of 2025 as a training slide presentation and documentation.  During the Winter 2025-2026, these slides were adapted to our website.

Welcome to the Practices and Procedures Manual for the Old South Haven Presbyterian Church, Brookhaven, New York. This manual provides comprehensive guidance for OSHPC on using Suran Systems' CDM+ Online application to ensure smooth and effective management of church activities, records, and operations. By adhering to the policies and procedures outlined here, we can maintain consistency, accuracy, and accountability while utilizing this tool to support the mission and ministry of our church.  

I decided to prepare this manual when it became apparent that my health would likely continue to deteriorate, preventing my future support.  Someone would no doubt need to succeed me.

I have worked with CDM+ since the church first subscribed to the service in 2007, following several years with another church application.  It was perhaps the most comprehensive and affordable system at the time.  And still may be,

I hope this resource, or another, will serve as a cornerstone for future collaborative and efficient workflows within OSHPC.

Manual Sections.

 The sections of the Management System Manual are organized into subject areas, labeled PP##.  The main sections are: PP01-09, Overview; PP10-19, Members; PP20-29 Contributions; PP30-39, General Ledger;  PP40-49, Accounts; PP50-59, Reporting, Communication; PP60-69,  Social Media, Outreach, Web Presence.  Each main section has subsections.

The CDM+ Help Center provides comprehensive help in all aspects of CDM+ usage.  You are encouraged to consult their help page if our Manual is ambiguous or in error.  

There may be references in this section to a particular CDM+ help topic that appears to be misdirected.  CDM+  apparently recently extensively revised their help pages, and we may not have properly referenced it to their new page.  

User Training is available online from CDM+.  Specialized Bookkeeper training is also available.
