Welcome to Math in Room 9

My name is Mary Katherine Ortale and this is my first year teaching math at Benchmark but definitely not my first year at Benchmark.

I am a graduate of Benchmark, have been a camp counselor for over 10 years, and have spent the last few years substitute teaching here at Benchmark.

I am excited to be back on campus full time and now from the other side of the desks. I am looking forward to a great year together!

Math = Stress Reliever

Yes -- you did read that right Math is my Stress reliever. When I was younger and felt myself getting stressed I would quickly make up a long division problem or a factor treat and work out the problem.

Math can and should be fun! Math is something we use all day everyday in all aspects of our life.

This year I will be working with the students to cultivate a love for math and an understanding of all math has to offer us in our daily lives.

Yes Yes 100%

Each individual is capable to succeed.

I am looking forward to working with all of my students this year to help them succeed.

Thank you Mr. William G. Spady! May we all work to adapt this philosophy.

The Brainy Bunch

In Room 9 we have a lot of hardworking brains and each month we are going to highlight 2 of our class brains. Students will have an opportunity to write about their math experience and how they use math in their daily lives. We will then post the information on our board once a month.
