INTRODUCTION
In the relentless drive for community development, local governments assume a primary and pivotal function in safeguarding the welfare of their constituents, all the while navigating the intricate nexus between advancement and environmental conservation. This necessitates adept resource management and meticulous prioritization of initiatives, projects, and social interventions, coupled with a continual enhancement of administrative capacity to optimize government service delivery for citizens.
The "SINAG ng Silangang Mindoro Awards" aims to recognize and celebrate outstanding Local Government Units (LGUs) in the Province of Oriental Mindoro for their exemplary performance and commitment to good governance. Moreover, this award system aims to empower the LGUs as demonstrated through their adherence to the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) criteria. The SGLG, established by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), serves as a benchmark for LGUs in delivering efficient and effective public service to their constituents.
Encapsulating the Agency's mandate to strengthen local government units' capability, the DILG Oriental Mindoro ventures on rewards and recognition schemes to promote good governance at the grassroots.
Meanwhile, in its quest to harness LGUs' potential in the field of project implementation, the Department also sets a system that primarily purports to promote transparency in governance. Dubbed as "SubayBAYAN", this system enables our partners and the public to monitor the status of project implementation in various areas of the country at a glance.
Through the SubayBAYAN ang Proyektong Bayan or SubayBAYAN Portal, this award focuses on recognizing LGUs for instituting innovative practices in project management and development, and for showcasing diligence in the practice of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of Locally-Funded Projects and select LGU infrastructure projects.
