Outfit the enhancers and supporters in Orion Stars to intensify your interactivity. These indisputable advantages offer the benefit, of pushing you past inconveniences and enemies. Timing is basic - send them cautiously to conquer obstacles and take off higher than any time in recent memory, achieving a win and attesting your place among the stars.

Although the night sky appears fairly static to the casual observer - aside from the occasional shooting star - observations made over time reveal a surprisingly dynamic universe: Entire galaxies vary in brightness, comets streak through the solar system and certain stars that circle each other in close proximity occasionally flare up as they rip stellar matter from each other's gravitational grip.

Autumn Schrock, who leads astrophotography workshops around the globe, would be the first to agree that owning top-of-the-line gear isn't a prerequisite for capturing the Aurora. However, there are certain requirements to keep in mind if you're aiming for professional-grade images. First and foremost, you need a camera body that can operate in Manual mode. You'll need to play with the adjustment ring until the stars are pin sharp. Autofocus is not capable of this level of preciseness.

I have a general question regarding the look of many astro images. It is often so that faint stars are smal sharp dots and the brighter the star the bigger they become, and the brightest are huge. OK, I know that there is a spread function with a halo around the stars and that the longer you expose, the larger they become. But, it is so dramatic in many astro images. Like the one shown here of Orion. Do astro photographers use some kind of halo filter to enhance that effect?

The thin clouds in the Orion image imo is responsible for the big stars. Very often while the sky seems clear the camera picks up the thin clouds and the stars get bigger which for some people is a nice effect. Sometimes landscape astrophotographers want to make the constellation to stand out so they make the most stars smaller and the one that matters bigger. It is really difficult to speak about natural sky colours in astrophotography if natural means what we are used to. What we see with our own eyes is only black and white in night sky. Astro is different from the rules of daylight photography.

Sweet, thanks for sharing. Astro is definetly a genre I'd like to explore more of. It's too bad I live next to a Bortle 9 zone. I think that's why Orion is my favourite constellation - it's one of the few I can see from here. It's also the gift that keeps on giving, as when I was a kid, I thought it was just a few stars making a neat formation, but look closer (or for longer) and you discover some incredible nebulae.

Probably worth mentioning that, because stars are pretty much a point of light no matter how long your lens is, their brightness varies with absolute, not relative (f-stop), aperture. Area targets like nebulae and aurorae need fast f-stops (a long lens spreads their light out more), but you'll see more stars with most variable-aperture zooms at the long, slow end. That's why you can get good views through telescopes that have long focal lengths but are typically slow in photographic lens terms.

A common trick is a slight blur, which emphasizes bright stars. Sometimes the photographer purposely defocuses to get this effect. But often blurring is not done intentionally but is intrinsic to the lens. Small apertures result in large diffraction disks that are most evident in bright stars. Zoom lenses typically have large PSF wings, especially at fast f-ratio. Also, this effect can easily be enhanced via processing.

I'm in the northern US. We're entering our third week of solid overcast, 24/7. I suppose there might be an Aurora, stars and meteor showers somewhere above all the cloud cover, but I can't confirm that. e24fc04721
