Hillsboro Online students have access to courses in our district schools. High school classes and middle school band and choir courses are open and available to HOA students at their neighborhood school. HOA also provides enrichment classes such as art, PE, and field trips for its home learning students.
Field trips are provided for enrichment and social opportunities such as movie night, holiday party, game night, etc, to give students and their families a chance to interact.
High schoolers can take a hybrid of online classes and in-person classes at the local high school. They can also participate in sports and receive career and college counseling.
[TBD] can HOA students use the district Early College program?
Students have access to all the special education services of the Hillsboro district, including IEP evaluation, therapy and tutoring. These are provided at one of the local schools.
Attendance is monitored daily by tracking student assignment submission, monitoring course login data, and through checking in with each teacher on at least two separate weekdays.
SBAC annually, plus [TBD] progress monitoring assessments two or three times per year.
Students living within the Hillsboro school district area are required to meet with a counselor or principal and submit an In-District transfer request form and include a letter explaining the reason for the transfer request. Transfers are approved for one school year only.
Students that do not live within the District’s boundaries can apply for an Inter-District transfer to attend HOA. This involves submitting a form to the current district and being approved for release to Hillsboro.
