Interdisciplinary research group focused on understanding how changes in oral tissues impact health and disease
Our lab is located at the Institute for Biological and Medical Engineering (IIBM) and School of Dentistry at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile (UC Chile) in Santiago. Our work aims to unravel how changes in oral tissues impact health and disease using interdisciplinary approaches stemming from mechanobiology, advanced microscopy, microfabrication, and biofilm sciences, amongst others. The lab is led by Sebastian Aguayo (Associate Professor, School of Dentistry and IIBM UC) and our work is mostly funded through Chilean government research grants (ANID FONDECYT and FONDEF IDEA initiatives) and internal UC grants.
Our group is based in Santiago, at the foot of the Andes mountain range in central Chile. From here it's just a short travel north or south to discover the natural beauties of Chile and South America. Come visit us!
