I'm looking forward to this hitting the market. I'll be in the market for a new chesty, and will probably get either a Bauer mach, hyperlite, or this. I loved how beefy the optik 2 was while also having pretty decent mobility, but didn't love how the side rib pillow made the unit flare out. I'd guess they modified that area on the optik 3. There also look like loops hanging at the bottom of the shoulder floaters, maybe they'll link into the pants. Does anyone know if the optik2 used Bri-core?

I really wanted to like the optik 2 pant- again, really well made and beefy per usual with Brian's. But the pants felt really uncomfortable when I would bend over to tie my skates and put my pads on. Protection didn't seem like it would ever be an issue, just couldn't get comfortable.

Optik is a powerful, flexible, extensible, easy-to-use command-lineparsing library for Python. Using Optik, you can add intelligent, sophisticated handling of command-line options to your scripts with verylittle overhead. (And, since Python 2.3, Optik is now part of thePython standard library, under the name optparse.)Here's an example of using Optik to add some command-line options to asimple script: from optik import OptionParser [...] parser = OptionParser() parser.add_option("-f", "--file", action="store", type="string", dest="filename", help="write report to FILE", metavar="FILE") parser.add_option("-q", "--quiet", action="store_false", dest="verbose", default=1, help="don't print status messages to stdout") (options, args) = parser.parse_args()With these few lines of code, users of your script can now do the"usual thing" on the command-line: yourscript -f outfile --quiet yourscript -qfoutfile yourscript --file=outfile -q yourscript --quiet --file outfile(All of these result in options.filename == "outfile" options.verbose == 0...just as you might expect.)Even niftier, users can run one of yourscript -h yourscript --helpand Optik will print out a brief summary of your script's optons: usage: yourscript [options] options: -h, --help show this help message and exit -fFILE, --file=FILE write report to FILE -q, --quiet don't print status messages to stdoutThat's just a taste of the flexibility Optik gives you in parsing yourcommand-line. See the documentation included in the package fordetails.RequirementsOptik 1.5.1 requires Python 2.0 or greater (although I only tested itwith 2.1 through 2.5a1). 2351a5e196
