As opportunities for leadership among teenagers continue to increase in the 21st century, it is time to make a change. We strive to make a real difference in the cleanliness of our beaches and their correspondent environments, as well as educate about the mistreatment of said environments and mitigate such circumstances in the future. It's a team effort with an all-hands-on-deck mindset.
Why did we create this foundation? That's simple really. As children we used to love taking walks on the beach with family, friends, etc. We would go really often, the beach serving as a safe haven for us as it was the place where we could be free and nostalgic of all the warm, sunny goodness of our younger lives. After long-hard weeks at school, clubs, sports practices, and essentially all else, we knew we could always look forward to days at the beach, which we could always rely on. The beach symbolized safety, leisure, happiness, freedom, and childhood. As time went on however, the beach became home to piles of garbage that ruined not only the ecosystem (which pushed our interest in biology) but the joy of attending the beach. The place we once knew as a leisurely second home had been turned to a junkyard, a dump, a ruin. The beach is empty of the joy and purity that it once brought us and other children, and has been replaced with nothing but a vast waste of GARBAGE. Why did this happen? How could those before us let this be? We thought these questions to ourselves when asking why we don't go to the beach anymore. We were young, naive, and unable to make a change. Now, however, the answers to these questions are in sight. It is time to make a difference, so take a dive into Operation C.O.A.S.T. with us.
