If you want high-fidelity audio with long battery life and a secure fit specifically for jogging, choose OpenRock Pro Open Ear; if you need a low-latency wireless transmitter to connect non-Bluetooth devices to modern headphones, choose Zunate LE Audio USB. These two products solve fundamentally different problems for the active listener, and confusing their purposes leads to frustration in the gym or on the trail.
• OpenRock Pro Open Ear: Strengths include 46 hours total playtime, IPX5 sweat resistance, and an open-ear design that keeps you aware of your surroundings; trade-off is it requires Bluetooth 5.2 and lacks active noise cancellation features.
• Zunate LE Audio USB: Strengths include a cutting-edge Bluetooth 5.4 chip for stable connections, support for aptX Adaptive and LE Audio codecs, and the ability to broadcast to multiple devices simultaneously; trade-off is it is a dongle adapter, not a standalone headphone set, and requires a power source via USB-C.
• Best For: The OpenRock Pro is for runners and hikers who need comfortable, all-day wear without ear canal pressure. The Zunate adapter is for audiophiles or gamers who own older wired headphones or laptops and need to upgrade to low-latency wireless streaming.
The OpenRock Pro Open Ear headphones are engineered for people who prioritize safety and comfort during physical activity. If you are a runner who needs to hear traffic, cyclists, or fellow hikers while listening to music, this product delivers exactly that. The open-ear design places the driver outside the ear canal, which eliminates the "plugged up" feeling common with traditional in-ear buds. This is critical for outdoor sports where situational awareness is a safety necessity. The ergonomic silicone ear hooks allow you to adjust the fit to your specific ear shape, dispersing weight across the entire ear rather than pinching inside the canal. This makes them suitable for extended wear, whether you are tackling a marathon or just commuting through a busy city.
Battery life is another massive advantage for the long-distance athlete. With a single charge providing up to 19 hours of listening time at 70% volume, you can cover weeks of daily runs before needing to plug in the charging case. The included portable backup case adds another 27 hours, bringing the total system capacity to 46 hours. This means you rarely have to worry about your headphones dying mid-workout. The device also carries an IPX5 waterproof rating, meaning it can withstand heavy sweat and rain without issue, making it a reliable companion for intense training sessions or unpredictable weather conditions.
Audio quality here leans heavily on clarity and bass response rather than isolation. The dynamic drivers combined with TubeBass technology deliver a sound profile that feels more immersive than bone conduction alternatives, offering deep bass without sacrificing the openness of the ear. However, because they are open-ear, they do not block out wind or background noise. If you require silence to focus or need to drown out loud machinery, these will not be the right tool. They are best suited for those who value natural sound reproduction and environmental alertness over passive noise isolation.

The Zunate LE Audio USB C Adapter is not a pair of headphones you wear; it is a bridge that brings modern wireless capabilities to older equipment. This device is designed for users who possess high-quality wired headphones but lack the Bluetooth hardware to stream from their laptop or phone wirelessly. By plugging into a USB-C port, this dongle transforms any compatible device into a low-latency wireless transmitter. It supports advanced codecs like aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, and aptX LL, ensuring that the audio signal remains synchronized with video or gaming action. This is particularly valuable for content creators or competitive gamers who cannot tolerate the lag found in standard Bluetooth connections.
Stability is a core strength of the Zunate unit thanks to its built-in Bluetooth 5.4 chip. This newer generation of connectivity offers a significantly more robust signal than older versions, maintaining a steady link even at distances up to 10 meters. The chip also enables broadcasting mode, allowing you to send audio to multiple pairs of headphones simultaneously. This feature is ideal for shared listening experiences, such as watching a movie with a partner or practicing music with a group, where everyone needs to hear the same source without interference. The device handles various audible formats seamlessly, ensuring that the digital-to-analog conversion process preserves the fidelity of the original file.
However, this product has specific limitations that define who should buy it. It is an accessory, not a complete audio solution. You must already own a pair of wireless headphones that support the codecs this transmitter uses to get the full benefit. It does not include speakers or earbuds. Furthermore, while it offers excellent range and stability, it relies entirely on the power of the host device's USB port. If you are looking for a self-contained solution that you can simply put on and run, this is not the answer. It is strictly for upgrading existing setups or enabling wireless playback on devices that lack native Bluetooth capability.
• Best for jogging and running → OpenRock Pro Open Ear, due to its secure fit, sweat resistance, and environmental awareness.
• Best for low latency wireless earbuds for jogging → Neither; the Zunate is a transmitter, not earbuds, so only OpenRock fits the "earbuds" requirement for movement.
• Best for long battery life → OpenRock Pro Open Ear, offering 46 hours of total playtime versus the continuous power draw required by the Zunate dongle.
• Best for connecting older laptops → Zunate LE Audio USB, as it provides a USB-C interface to add modern Bluetooth 5.4 capabilities to legacy hardware.
• Best for multi-device broadcasting → Zunate LE Audio USB, which allows simultaneous audio transmission to multiple headphones.
• Best for durability during sweat → OpenRock Pro Open Ear, with its IPX5 rating designed for active sports use.
• Best for codec flexibility → Both offer high standards, but Zunate explicitly supports aptX Adaptive and HD for wired-to-wireless upgrades.
• Best for comfort during long wear → OpenRock Pro Open Ear, as the open-ear design prevents ear canal fatigue better than most in-ear solutions.
In my opinion, for anyone actively looking for rechargeable open ear earbuds for jogging, the OpenRock Pro Open Ear is the clear winner. The combination of 46-hour battery life, IPX5 water resistance, and the safety-focused open-ear design makes it a purpose-built tool for athletes. The Zunate adapter is a fantastic piece of tech for home office setups or living room entertainment, but it cannot replace the form factor and functionality required for outdoor exercise. If you need to move freely while staying safe and connected, the OpenRock Pro is the only logical choice for the trail.
No, the OpenRock Pro Open Ear uses an open-ear design for environmental awareness and does not feature active noise cancellation, which would defeat the safety purpose of hearing your surroundings while running.
It works best with headphones that support the specific codecs it transmits, such as aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, and LE Audio, though it maintains a stable connection with standard Bluetooth profiles as well.
The OpenRock Pro offers 19 hours on a single charge plus 27 hours from its case, whereas the Zunate adapter draws power continuously from the host device's USB port and does not have an internal battery.
Yes, the adjustable silicone ear hooks are designed to sit outside the ear canal, avoiding pressure points and irritation, making them suitable for people with small or sensitive ears.
