While watching some of my favorite television shows, I thought it would be a great idea to have students create opening credits for hypothetical shows. They could come up with their own television show and create opening credits based around the theme of their episodes. After learning some basics in film techniques, they could use a variety of techniques to film characters in their hypothetical television show. This unit will focus on using Animoto, an online tool that will allow you to create videos with a professional appeal. Because filming will be limited, students will probably focus on filming their team in different physical locations throughout the school. They can diversify their presentation by having actors dress and act for the part to reflect their role in the hypothetical television show. Considering students are intrigued by multi-media, this lesson will be meaningful and relevant to their interests.
