I compressed my folder using Windows7 and it compressed to zipx format. How can I extract it in ubuntu 12.04 because it encountered error while extracting. When I google for it I came across this ' -zipx-file-linux-ubuntu-or-mac-anything-other-windows-7' but it also gives me unsupprted error while installing. Is their any other perfect solution.

Since the ZIPX file format is rather newly introduced by WinZIP, there are few zip utilities supporting it (WinRAR doesn't support ZIPX yet, neither does 7Zip). Thus, if you happen to encounter a corrupt zipx file you cannot repair it since no zipx repair utilities are yet available, so the only option is to go back and repackage the files (if you still have them) and only after that re-create the zipx archive.

I have searched for, downloaded and tried a lot of different editors but it seems that only EMACS and Vim are capable of opening zip files. As a noob i find both intimidating, as would be countless other programmers.

Is there a way to natively open .zip files through PrusaSlicer? I hate having to download a zip file from Thingiverse or another archive, extract it, and then open in PrusaSlicer, when I'm never going to make modifications or save that file again after it's printed. Seems like an inefficient workflow.

Unless somebody sliced the file for your exact printer, filament and desire settings, this isn't really practical. You generally want to open the models (STL files) in your slicer to select your printer, desired filament settings and other adjustments. Some .zip files off Thingiverse contain multiple STLs, so you also want to select the appropriate files to print.

The files are loaded into memory once you select the file. You can open zip files through windows explorer (FYI I'm talking windows specifically here) . WinZip is a program that facilitates the creation and unzipping (opening) of zip files. However, recent Windows versions such as Windows 7, 8 and 10 do not require WinZip to create a zip file. To manually create a zip folder with multiple files in these Windows versions you just have to:

The zip file will be created and ready for email attachment. If you already have a zip file that you would like to open, it is recommended that you have an archive extraction software such as WinZip or WinRAR. If you are using Windows 10 however, you have an option to extract the files manually.

You may get an error when you try to download and open certain .zip files from Procore. For example, you may encounter the error after you download documents from Procore in bulk. 

Note: This error only affects Windows machines.

The reason why you may encounter the error is related to how the Windows OS parses the filename and underlying folder structure of a .ZIP file's contents. It is a known limitation across all Windows machines that it cannot open a .ZIP file when it exceeds the 260 character filename limit. 


When a .ZIP is created, the included files and the underlying folder structure is maintained to ensure that when its contents are unzipped/unpacked, the files are placed into the correct folder structure that matches the original file path. For example, you may have .ZIP file that contains a folder structure similar to the following:

In the example above, the full path contains 87 characters. If you opened the file, Windows would try to place the folders and files into the default destination path on your local computer, which may be: C://Windows/Users/John/Downloads/

In this example, the destination path contains 33 characters. When both paths are combined (87 + 33), it yields a total of 120 characters.


Windows machines can properly process ZIP files whose combined original and destination file paths are less than 260 characters in length. If the combined character length exceeds the 260 character limit, Windows will not be able to open the file and you will receive an error or failed event.

Users will want to update their Microsoft .NET web framework to 4.6.2 or higher.


Assuming the original file path does not exceed 260 characters, another option is to change the default destination path to a root level path (e.g. C://). The easiest way to change the default destination path is to save an image from a web browser window and select a root level destination (e.g. C://). Then download the .ZIP file from Procore again. (Windows will automatically remember the most recent destination path for unpacking .ZIP files.) Typically, the shorter destination path will allow you to successfully open/unpack the .ZIP file. However, if the .ZIP file itself exceeds the 260 character limit, you will need to contact the person who created and sent you the .ZIP file and request that they change their folder structure and file naming conventions so that the created .ZIP file does not exceed the 260 character limit. 1.Can outlook app open ZIP files by itself

Been seeing an issue lately were different clients get a zipped folder via a download, could be onedrive or dropbox using windows 10 pro. Once it is downloaded the folder will show it has data, and you can see files and folders while it is still zipped. Once the folder is extracted it shows 0 data and you can only see folders and no files at all. I did some more testing on the pc having the issue, and I logged in with an admin account and I was able to extract the files. So I'm thinking a bad profile right? Log back in as the user and it starts working again. The user that it started working on again just called again and is having the same issue. I just downloaded the folder to my windows 11 pro machine and I am getting the same results. If the zipped folder is copied to a Server 2019 share, and I login to the server with an admin account I am able to extract the folders and files just fine. Just tested this again today and the server has no issues seeing the extracted files. The PC and the Server are both using Sentinel One as AV, I confirmed with the SOC team it is not flagging the files or deleting them. My windows 11 pc is also using S1 and we are all using M365 for Office. This feels like a M365 update issue, or maybe even windows. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

I am seeing the same issue on multiple computers which also have Sentinelone installed. Im not sure if S1 is the issue or not but im currently testing that. What I have found is that if I kill explorer.exe while the end user is experiencing the issue and then relaunch explorer.exe, zip files work for a little while.
