I am a third-year PhD candidate at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, pursuing a dual degree in Masters of Bioethics at the Perelman School of Medicine. My mentors are Drs. George Demiris and Connie Ulrich. Originally from South Korea, I earned my Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing from Seoul National University College of Nursing.
I am currently a Carol Elizabeth Ware PhD Fellow, as my dissertation aims to support family caregivers of persons with dementia transitioning to hospice care. One example of this work is my study on caregiver-reported barriers and facilitators to hospice enrollment for persons with dementia, published in Palliative Medicine.
I am also an Innovation Fellow at the Penn Artificial Intelligence and Technology (PennAITech) Collaboratory for Healthy Aging. As part of my work on AI, I published a philosophical critique in Nursing Ethics, where I examine the ethical dimensions of applying AI in palliative and end-of-life contexts.
