Weekly Report
[2021-05-05] Lab 10b was updated and completed without the need of certain materials according to the directions. LidaRoom website was officially complete and last minute reviews were done to certify full completion of the project.
[2021-04-28] No Lab to complete this week but Group 13 continued to work and format the website to correspond with the requirements listed in the course description. Reviewed Lesson 11 and learned about Implementation. It is very important to determine the processes, materials and equipment that will used in fabrication when developing a design concept. Poor implementation can be the cause of failure.
[2021-04-21] Began collecting group input to complete the synthesis tab of the LidaRoom website and constructing the morphological chart. Lab 10 was partially completed due to lack of materials. the section involving blockchain related python programs was finished. Group 13 worked on the website together and made changes where needed to enhance professional visuals. Reviewed Lesson 10 and learned about design analysis. There are multiple ways to evaluate a design, but good methods all help prioritize design goals, determine the best solution and identify strengths and weaknesses.
[2021-04-13] Both the sections of Lab 9 involving PNG viewer and IBM's examples were completed. Group 13 began to divvy responsibility of the website into parts for individuals to complete. As a group we discussed overall theme and format of the website. Reviewed Lesson 9 and learned about failure analysis and hazard analysis. The three levels of failure are physical flaws, errors in process and errors in perspective/attitude. reviewing existing standards, identifying hazards known and unknown along with their characteristics can help minimize danger of hazards.
[2021-04-06] Group 13 created the website LIDAROOM for our project and reviewed past project examples as a team to establish a sense of direction in regards to our next steps. Section D of lab 8 in the REPO was completed. Example codes were run and data from other labs was analyzed. Reviewed Lesson 8 and learned about ethics and product liability.
[2021-03-29] In the break out room, group 13 decided to work on a project to use lidar technology to measure and map out areas in a room. we worked on a proposal and discussed ways and times to acquire material and when to possibly meet in person. On my own time, I looked through Lesson 7 and learned about synthesis. This idea requires creative thinking to join ideas into something new and meaningful. The barriers to synthesis are knowledge, perceptual, emotional, cultural, and expressive. Section A & B were also completed in Lab 7 that dealt with Thingspeak and google API
[2021-03-22] Learned about abstraction and modeling through the Lesson 6 lecture notes. A portion of the model types are analogical models, symbolic models, and iconic models. The specific results of the model is expected to provide needs to be identified; along with the formats and reasons for selecting each need to be considered. Also, Lab 6 was completed with Sections A and B including Node.js and Pystache were done.
[2021-03-15] Reviewed Lesson 5 and learned about applying, acquiring and gathering technical knowledge. A few types of protection of intellectual property are patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets.
[2021-03-08] Studied Lesson 4 and learned how to structure the search for a solution. By subdividing the problem into different design goals such as safety, reliability and durability your mental process can be more organized. Any physical, ergonomic and/or environmental need to be identified for each goal.
[2021-03-01] Lab 3 parts 3A, 3C, 3E, 3F were completed, but due to lack of materials parts 3B and 3D could not be completed. Met with group to brain storm ideas for final project. Current list of ideas can be found here.
[2021-02-22] Unable to complete all of lesson 2 labs due to lack of hardware. Was able to complete lab 2G. Reviewed and learned about the needs assessment in terms of understanding the needs to fine a specific solution.
2021-02-15] President's Day... No class this week
[2021-02-08] Lab 1 was completed and VNC viewer was able to successfully connect to the Raspberry Pi 4B. Installed Raspberry Pi OS and enabled SSH. The ten attributes of engineer were also learned.
[2021-02-01] Completed Exercise 0 by creating this Google Site for Design VI weekly reports and adding a GitHub repository link specifically for Design VI. Additionally, acquired Raspberry Pi 4B 2GB and studied the course syllabus.
