Online English Language Arts
Hey there! Let me tell you a little about myself. I am a wife and mother and love being both. I am a licensed teacher with eight years teaching experience, five of which were spent in the Alamance Burlington school system. I have served as a tutor for students from second to twelfth grade, and online teacher for homeschool and middle school students. My husband and I moved to the Alamance/Guilford County, North Carolina area in 2012 where he served as a minister for three years, and I served in the public school system for five years. After the birth of our son in 2017, I served homeschoolers, struggling students, and ELL students as a tutor in Literature, study skills, grammar, and English. In the summer of 2018, we moved back to my hometown of Roanoke, VA where I continue to serve homeschoolers, and ELL students.
I graduated as a homeschooler in 2007, and attended Piedmont International University and High Point University. I began my teaching career in 2011 in North Carolina, though I frequently worked as an educator in various fashions before becoming a licensed teacher. In the 2016/2017 school year I had the sincere honor of being voted Teacher of the Year at my school, and finalist for the Alamance-Burlington Teacher of the Year.
I am passionate about teaching and education. I love each student I have encountered and find true joy and fulfillment in seeing students succeed and grow to love learning. I have worked with countless teams to expand literacy, technology, and rigor in the classroom. It is my goal to prepare young people for a college education while also preparing them to be well-rounded, empathetic, and positive contributors to their communities. I believe that a good education and a desire for learning opens the door for opportunity. I feel that a well-read and well-written student moves easier and faster towards that door. I would love the opportunity to teach your student. You can view my resume here for more information about my qualifications.
This year I will be offering online and in-person classes for high school students.
