Debate Kits

Debate Kits

Our debate kits are designed to be a complete "debate-in-a-box" that you can give to your students. Each kit consists of:

  1. An introduction to the topic and overview of the controversy;

  2. A blank template for the debate, complete with issues that unpack and structure the exchange of arguments;

  3. A packet of evidence with supporting material for the Pro and Con on each issue; and

  4. A debate template filled with arguments utilizing the evidence from the packet to build a case for the Pro and Con.

Flexiblity

The kits are designed to tailored to different students and different ends. Maybe you provide your students only with the topic and have them develop arguments and find evidence. Perhaps you give them the topic and the issues to structure their research and strategizing. You could give them all of that and the packet of evidence to encourage them to focus on argument invention. Or you could give them the filled template to get them on their feet quickly. It's up to you! See the Training page for a recorded session that explains ways to use the kit.

Overview

Check out the list below to see the full version of the topic and the issues that accompany that topic. In each of the folders to the left you'll find the materials for that debate. Some of the kits are being finalized so you may not find the folder for the kit you want yet. Be patient and check back often--we'll add kits as they're finished.
