[Lyrics]
(Intro)
They’ve been crushed, all of my dreams
Even if I get them back, something that has been so damaged
Can’t ever be replaced, it’s Right?
You’re aware of this
[You’re] Leaving, Goodbye
(My love, that’s right, my person)
(Hook)
Hi, I’m a piece of gum¹
I’m made to be eternal
Just wish for me to come back
I stick right back from the ground below
One step, one step, one step, running
Two steps, two steps, narrow space
Hi, I’m a poltergeist²
I can’t even fly away
Always protecting this place
I walk around looking for you
One step, one step, one step, running
Two steps, two steps, narrow space
(Verse 1)
The one who is waiting for you here, it’s me
Not able to go anywhere because I’m searching for vestiges
I think about it, I long for you and miss you
Not being able to leave, the one remaining here, me
Hoping that there would never be an end
As if time [itself] would last forever
Our love will last forever, those words [we used to say]
That’s right, it was nothing but my wish
(VERSE 2)
[The place] we promised to go back to
This island doesn’t [exist] anymore, [only its] presence [remains]
The love we buried, was I wrong?
Did you stop by with someone else during this time?
Amaryllis³ in full bloom in every direction
This cruel series you made on your own
(My love, that’s right, my person)
(Hook)
Hi, I’m a piece of gum¹
I’m made to be eternal
Just wish for me to come back
I stick right back from the ground below
One step, one step, one step, running
Two steps, two steps, narrow space
Hi, I’m a ghost/poltergeist²
I can’t even fly away
Always protecting this place
I walk around looking for you
One step, one step, one step, running
Two steps, two steps, narrow space
¹ (T/N: ‘껌딱지 (ggeomddakji)’ literal meaning = a chewed gum that is stuck on a surface. It is also used as an expression to describe someone who’s really affectionate and does not leave the side of the person they like, they ‘stick’ to them and follow them everywhere)
² (T/N: ‘지박령 (jibaknyeong)’ is translated here as ‘poltergeist’. To add a bit more details, the word is used to describe a spirit/ghost that is bound to one place and cannot leave it. This kind of ghost tends to not realize they passed away and continue to act as if they were alive. They also grow a strong obsession to the place they’re bound to and may harm people who come in their area)
³ (T/N: According to Greek mythology (The Eclogues by the Latin poet Virgil) the amaryllis flower was created out of pure love and determination. “A beautiful maiden named Amaryllis (meaning ‘to sparkle’ in Greek) falls in love with a shepherd named Alteo, who claimed he would only fall in love with a girl who could bring to him a new type of a flower that he had never seen before. Determined to win his love, Amaryllis traveled to the Oracle of Delphi for guidance. The oracle instructed her that in order to win Alteo‘s heart she must sacrifice her blood for him. So Amaryllis stood in front of his house for thirty nights piercing her own heart with a golden arrow. On the thirtieth day a crimson flower grew from the blood of her heart, thus resulting in her winning Alteo‘s love in return.”
