About Patrick Story and "One Story Foundation", by Dina Story

Patrick A. Story of Clarence, NY grew up in Cheektowaga, NY. He graduated from Maryvale High School in 1983, proudly served in the US Army and subsequently attended the Millard Fillmore Hospital School of Nursing. Patrick was profoundly successful in his short life, building his enumerable professional achievements upon the foundation as a Registered Nurse (RN).

After attending Millard Fillmore Hospital School of Nursing, he began his rewarding career working at Millard Fillmore Gates Circle Hospital as a RN on an orthopedic floor. He was promoted to a position in the Neuro/Endovascular Lab., where he eventually moved into a supervisory role. Among the tasks required in his supervisory role, Patrick was responsible for the critical evaluation of neuro-interventional devices. In 2000, Patrick leveraged this extensive experience into an opportunity to work in the medical device industry when he signed on with Abbott Vascular in a variety of clinical roles. Recognizing Patrick’s talent, Abbott promoted him to a Territory Manager. He was later recruited by Guidant where he successfully launched the first FDA-approved carotid stent. Patrick entered the medical device startup world when he was hired by Access Closure as a Territory Manager where his many responsibilities included direct sales, clinical training and national field training.

After 10 years in medical devices business, Patrick’s significant medical device management and interpersonal abilities gave him the skill-set to begin working at US Cardiovascular, opening outpatient office based vascular centers, as the VP of Development and Marketing. In this role, Patrick was instrumental in building the US Cardiovascular business by establishing new office based labs in Buffalo, San Antonio, Pittsburgh and Detroit. He oversaw the operations at each location, and successfully recruited numerous physicians to provide vascular care at the centers. In addition, Patrick created a unique outreach referral marketing program which, in addition to being lucrative for US Cardiovascular, was highly successful in raising awareness of peripheral vascular disease within the framework of primary care physician practices.

After six years with US Cardiovascular, Patrick decided to start his own business, and launched One Story Medical for the sales and distribution of medical devices with a focus on products used to treat peripheral vascular disease. Unfortunately this next chapter in Patrick’s business career was cut short due to the progression of Patrick’s medical situation.

Patrick’s successes in the clinical, medical device and business world although very important to him paled in comparison to his dedication to his family, friends and philanthropic endeavors. Patrick and his wife Dina during their 27 year marriage raised two boys, Connor and Cameron. Through example they have instilled in them the importance of giving back. Patricks philanthropic efforts were both micro and macro and they centered around his love of people and the ability to befriend and help anyone. Whether it be a kind word of encouragement, emptying his wallet to help a needy person on the street or organizing several large events to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Wings Flights of Hope, his giving had no boundaries.

The One Story at a Time Foundation, rooted in love, is dedicated to Patrick’s memory. It is his family’s personal mission of keeping Patrick’s legacy alive, helping others as Pat did so often. Patrick is very missed by all who knew him. He will always be remembered for his practical joking, giving nature, desire to always help others, love of life and extreme love of his family and amazing friends.
