I bought a new PC and installed Windows 10. I have almost 1TB of files on OneDrive, and I want it all to be available offline. However, when I try to deactivate the "Save space and download files as you use them" option under "Settings", it just doesn't turn off.

OneDrive Files On-Demand helps you save storage space on your users' computers, and minimize the network impact of a sync. I have been using OneDrive to store a large amount of images and now I need to process those, so I have sync'd my OneDrive folder to my computer, which takes relatively no space on disk. However, since I have to open() them in my code, they all get downloaded, which would take much more than the available memory on my computer. I can manually use the Free up space action in the right-click contextual menu, which keeps them sync'd without taking space.

However I couldn't find anything related to it and those trees have way too many keys to check blindly. Also this forum post (outside link) shows a few ways to free up space automatically, but it seems to affect all files and is limited to full days intervals.

A quick update. The problem is cause by Microsoft setting the P file attribute when I copy files to my X: drive. My X: drive is encrypted with BitLocker so that may be the cause. When i copy the files from my X: drive to my C:/OneDrive folder, the P attribute is assumed to mean that i want to keep these files local. Thus, Free Up Space does not work because the new files have the P attribute set. People over at Microsoft have zero clue what I am taking about even when I send them step by step examples showing the setting of the P attribute when I copy into my X: drive.

Understood @Iris . But given the fact that Knime occupies close to 200 GB on PC is the problem I have to switch my workspace to OneDrive. But ofcourse, the workflow / settings will be first downloaded and only then I can access them. This is understandable. Thanks.

Just to clarify. All of my Dropbox files exist locally on both computers and are only being synced together via fileshare. If I understood correctly then your plan seems to be to delete your local files in an attempt to save hard drive space which is much different than my use case. I think your approach would likely impact performance as @Iris mentioned.
