Google Sign-In and Google Drive Backup & Restore
Our Application provides an optional feature that allows you to sign in with your Google Account and back up your saved bill reference data to your personal Google Drive account. This section explains how this feature works and what data is involved.
What Data We Access Through Google Sign-In:
When you choose to sign in with your Google Account, we access only the following:
Your Google Account email address — used solely to identify your account within the app and display your sign-in status.
Google Drive Application Data folder (appDataFolder) — a private, hidden folder on your Google Drive that is only accessible by this Application. We do NOT access, read, modify, or view any other files or data in your Google Drive.
What Data Is Stored in Google Drive:
When you initiate a backup, the following data from your local database is uploaded to the Application Data folder on your Google Drive:
Bill reference numbers
Account numbers/IDs
Company names (e.g., MEPCO, LESCO, SNGPL, etc.)
Custom names/titles you have assigned to your saved bills
Associated bill type identifiers
This is the same data that you have manually saved within the Application. No additional personal data, files, photos, contacts, or any other content from your device is uploaded.
How Backup and Restore Works:
Backup: Your locally saved bill reference data is converted to a JSON file and uploaded to the Application Data folder on your Google Drive. If a previous backup exists, it is overwritten with the latest data.
Restore: When you sign in on a new device and choose to restore, the JSON backup file is downloaded from your Google Drive Application Data folder and imported into the local database on your new device.
User Control:
Sign-in is entirely optional — you can use the Application without signing in with Google.
You can sign out at any time from within the Application's settings (About screen), which disconnects the Application from your Google Account.
You can delete the backup data at any time by uninstalling the Application, which automatically removes the Application Data folder from your Google Drive, or by revoking access in your Google Account settings at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions.
We do not retain any copy of your Google Account email or your backup data on our servers. All backup data is stored exclusively in your own Google Drive account.
Google API Services User Data Policy — Limited Use Disclosure
Our application's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:
We only use access to Google user data (email address and Drive appDataFolder) to provide the backup and restore feature described in this Privacy Policy.
We do not transfer Google user data to third parties unless doing so is necessary to provide or improve the feature, comply with applicable laws, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with prior notice to the user).
We do not use Google user data for serving advertisements.
We do not allow humans to read Google user data, unless we have your affirmative agreement, it is necessary for security purposes, to comply with applicable law, or our use is limited to internal operations and the data has been aggregated and anonymized.
