What The Bible Says About The Church In The Last Days

The number one problem facing today's Christians is not what politicians rule in the Whitehouse, congress nor on the U.S. Supreme Court. The number one problem we face as Christians is ourselves. It is our being uninformed of God's Word in its entirety, in large part, because of political correctness. Many many Christians read their Bibles regularly, probably more so than do I, but so much is never brought to light that should be, and that is our fault and the fault of our religious leaders who have decided to turn blinded eyes away from our, theirs, and and their mentors' and colleagues' errant doctrines. If we and our church leaders would stop turning blind eyes for fear of offending folks, then, just maybe WE ALL would have no choice but to seek the right answers to our puzzling questions from God's UNADULTERATED Word. God is a Wonderful guide! Isaiah 9:6 says that God is a Counselor and Wonderful, not just the Prince of Peace and Everlasting Father. We HAVE GOT TO start trusting in God as our Couselor! There is no-one who can be trusted to lead us anywhere besides to the slaughter, if we do not learn to accept that God is our Counselor.
Most sincere Christians have at least heard some preachers recognizing the backslid state of the church, but how many times have we ever heard that the Bible prophesies a falling away in the last days? Have you ever heard of that? I had never heard of it, not ever. Only after Go d had shown it to me in Numbers 20:11, Hebrews 6:6, II Thessalonians 2:3 and still other verses, did I fully understand Christ's very own words when he even prophesied it! I am going to try to cover this topic, but it is so very deep and hard to present, I may loose both you AND me in trying to share it. Please bare with me.
First, backsliding is SERIOUS stuff. Some people are content to accept their denominations' beliefs that they cannot loose their salvation. I am not here to debate philosophy. I believe what the Bible says, that one's name can be blotted out of the Book of Life:
5 He that overcometh , the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
Looking at salvation holistically or not, the bottom line is you have to work out your salvation before God. That means you and you alone are in control of your walk before God. Only you can call on God's name and seek His guidance and deliverance from temptation, and this is a daily burden that only He can carry for you according to your asking:
12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed , not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
Jesus gave us information about backsliding. He taught us that a backslider is in a worse state of Spiritual being than one who has never been cleansed to begin with. He said that when a demon is cast out that it then returns with seven more demons, such that the last state is worse than the first:
43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, rest, and findeth none.
44 Then he saith , I will return into my house from whence I came out ; and when he is come , he findeth it empty , swept , and garnished.
45 Then goeth he , and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.
I noticed a parallel to the above mentioned verses when I was reading one day in Revelation. I believe the Revelation is describing events that are brought on in the hands of backsliders, e.g. people who have tasted of the Good Word of God, but who have departed from the faith. Compare Revelation 17:11 to the above verses from Mathew:
11 And the beast that was , and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven and goeth into perdition.
Do you see a the parallel between this verse in Revelation when compared to what Christ said about backsliding? To me, seeing this parallel is just like all of the other many parallels that can be found in the Bible. For example, in Psalm 139 King David said, "if I make my bed in hell, thou art there." Out on a boat with His followers, Christ was fast asleep when a great storm hit. He was there!
8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.
Okay, now I want to get to the meat of this blog, the prophecy that says a falling away occurs in the last days. In Numbers 20:11 Moses smote a rock with his staff in order that God would make water flow from that rock and quench the thirst of the Israelites who had been freed from the bondage of Egypt, yet thirsted.
11 And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.
The rock that Moses smote was a symbol for Christ Jesus, who was smitten by the law of the land at the hands of false accusers, the leaders of Israel, so that our souls could find redemption from sin. The water that flowed from that stone was symbolic of Christ's Holy Spirit, which he abundantly shares with whoever will receive Him in truth:
I Corinthians 10:1-4
1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
There is something in Numbers 20:11, though, that just jumped right out at me one day, as it should you. Look again, above at Numbers 20:11. Do you read where Moses smote the rock twice? This is very important. To my knowledge, this is the first time in the Old Testament that the falling away in the last days is prophesied. More evidence of this prophecy is found in Hebrews 6, where the Apostle Paul was warning of the dangers of backsliding:
4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
After reading the above three verses, do you see how it is that when Moses smote the stone two times it was not only the prophecy of Christ's crucifixion, but also the prophecy of a falling away in the last days? Hebrews 6:6 says that backsliding crucifies Christ afresh, thus the falling away is the second crucifixion. This also fits perfectly with my study of who I believe to be the false prophet of the antiChrist, Jean Henri Dunant (see my other blogs and my free online book for details).
II Thessalonians 2:3 also prophesies, or rather, reiterates the Numbers 20:11 prophecy about the falling away:
II Thessalonians 2:3
3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
The "falling away" is thus revealed here, too, before Paul goes on to write about the anti-Christ false prophet who is also is a backslider. Here's another verse that covers this topic, from Mathew:
33 Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.
This verse is a whole parable, all wrapped up into one verse. Christ is referring to the same leaven that is used by the pharisees. It raises the world up in rebellion against God three times.
15 How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?
The first time the world rebelled against God was in the Garden of Eden, when Eve was leavened by the words of the serpent, and she and Adam then ate from the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. The second time the world rebelled was in Christ's crucifixion on the cross, and the third and final rebellion of mankind is the falling away that is prophesied in Numbers 20:11 and II Thessalonians 2:3, which you have already read about in this blog.
32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
Today, nearly all of the entire planet has been preached the Gospel of Christ, and yet today sin is running rampant across the globe like never before. We are seeing unprecedented numbers of abortions and homosexuals, and all is deemed socially acceptable by our governments. Where once the homosexuals had to hide their abominations, they now have their own holiday, and they are protected as minorities. We Christians are labeled homophobic for rebuking the abominations of these evil people, people that are leading the whole world to hell. The vines are ripe. The tender fig tree is yet putting forth its leaves: The new understandings from God's Word are being poured out to us by thru His precious Holy Spirit. All we need is a mustardseed of faith to overcome, and we will experience miracles like never before!
6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand;
Do you think you could you ever see a fallen away man in the pulpit, where he ought not be allowed to stand? Maybe you know of a church that ordains homosexuals or corrupt politicians as pastors or teachers? Such churches are led of fallen power brokers and should be rebuked in brotherly love. If such a church cannot be turned back unto repentance, then it should be exposed, and any loyal Christians should flee from it. Christ spoke of the abomination of desolation being in places where it ought not be, for the wise at heart to understand Him. This verse, traditionally, is used to teach about Israel; I believe, but the Word of God is a two edged Sword. There is an abundance of ways God can use His Words:
14 But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:
There is alot more that can be said on this topic, from the Old Testament, in warning the saints of the evils of backsliding. The point I am trying to drive home is simply that there is alot of prophecy that we Christians are being denied, being denied because of backslid pulpits. A backslid pulpit just isn't going to tell you prophecies of backsliding in the last days now is it?
A good place to start, in deciding about backslid pulpits, is the fact that today's churches are almost all incorporated. The main reason for incorporating a church is to protect the big tithers' money. Individuals can be sued individually for incidences that happen within unincorporated churches, so churches incorporate. Incorporating makes it easy to attract those big tithers who are scared to death of law suits.
When a rich man came to Jesus and asked what he must do to be saved, Jesus didn't tell him that he'd run out and hire a pocket full of lawyers to protect that rich man's money. Jesus said to give it all up and come follow. Corporate churches would scoff in Jesus's face, were he here in the flesh today. I know, because I've experienced it.
30 And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice.
When Adam and Eve committed the first rebellion against God, there was no sacrifice that they knew of, but mankind has rebelled two more times since, and both of these rebellions were against the Word of God in Christ Jesus. The cock is about to crow for the second and last time in Christ's return, don't be a part of the third rebellion! Jesus told us that yo blaspheme the Holy Spirit is to commit the third strike. Now is the one last opportunity to repent and leave blasphemous ways behind!
