Many of these organizations hold meetings and workshops and several produce publications and online content. Congratulations to Jeff Taylor, Middle School Principal of the Year
Mt. Angel School District’s Jeff Taylor named Oregon Middle School Principal of the Year for 2023 (Salem, Ore.) The Oregon Association of Secondary School Administrators (OASSA) and the Coalition of Oregon School Administrators (COSA) have named Jeff Taylor, Mt. Angel Middle School Principal in the Mt. Angel School District, the 2023 Oregon Assistant Principal of the Year. Taylor joined the Mt. Angel School District this school year. He has positively impacted the school and the school community in a short time. “Mr. Taylor is a knowledgeable educator and an authentic instructional leader,” said Mt. Angel School District Superintendent Rachel Stucky. Taylor has a language acquisition and mathematics background and is passionate about lifting all learners in his school. His dedication and commitment are noticed by staff, students, and the community. Taylor spent time this school year building strong relationships. His bilingual skills are an asset in communicating with families in both Spanish and English. Families have expressed the positive impact on the school Taylor has created. His caring nature is vital to building strong relationships with families, students, and staff. He is known as a relational leader who is patient and a thoughtful communicator who builds inclusive environments and supports the learning of each of his students. This award automatically places Taylor in the running for National Middle School Principal of the Year awarded by the National Association of Secondary School Principals. Last year, OMLA board member Katherine Holden, received both the state and national awards for Assistant Principal of the Year. We wish Principal Taylor the best!
“COSA is honored to have Principal Jeff Taylor as the 2023 Oregon Middle School Principal of the Year,” said Craig Hawkins, COSA Executive Director. “He is a principal who cares deeply for his community and leads transformative change with purpose and with students at the center.” Taylor will be recognized at the COSA Annual Conference in Seaside in June and honored by the National Association of Secondary Principals at their national conference in Denver, Colorado this summer. The Oregon Middle Level Association is honored to be able to sponsor this award at the COSA Conference.
