A Hog is a neutral animal that spawns naturally on Mushroom Islands. Hogs are a source of ham and can be ridden if equipped with a saddle.
Spawns naturally in groups of 2-3 in Mushroom Island biomes.
Breeding
Hogs can be bred using apples. After breeding, the parents have a cooldown of 5 minutes before they can breed again. Baby hogs mature in 20 minutes and stay near their parents. Feeding them reduces the remaining time to maturity by 10%.
Breeding
1–9 xp upon successful breeding
On Death
Ham: 2-5
XP: 1-4 (when killed by a player or tamed wolf)
Hogs roam the Overworld avoiding hazards and harmful falls. A piglet flees for a short time when harmed.
Hogs follow players holding apples, golden apples, enchanted golden apples, gilded apples, ruby apples, enchanted ruby apples or apples on sticks within a radius of six blocks.
Riding
It is possible to ride an adult hog by using a saddle on it. When a saddle is used on a hog, the hog might stare at the player for a few seconds. Saddled hog are controllable with a apple on a stick. They start slow but accelerate to 10.40 blocks/s (100% faster than a common pig). Baby hogs cannot be saddled nor ridden.
Hog cannot float on water when being controlled. Using the apple on a stick while riding a hog makes it run faster at the cost of 7 durability. If the hog and rider fall, then fall damage doesn't cause any knockback or slower movement speed.
Zombification
After spending 15 seconds in the Nether, they become zombified, and will then transform into a Zombie Hog. You can prevent his zombification by feeding him a ruby apple.
If a Hog dies fighting a zombie pigman, zombie piglin, zombie piggy, ancient zombie pigman, zombie pig, zombie hoglin, zombie piglin beast or zombie hog there is a 50% chance of being zombified (on the hard difficulty it is 100%)
If a Hog dies while fighting a Wither-related entity, there is a 50% chance of withering away (on Hard difficulty it's 100%).
