Effective Date: May 1, 2025.
This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected and used within the EarAlarm mobile application (the "App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy.
1. Information We Collect
We, the developers of EarAlarm, do not directly collect any personally identifiable information from you. However, the App utilizes third-party services that may collect certain information as described below:
Firebase Analytics: We use Firebase Analytics (a service provided by Google) to collect anonymous usage data to understand how users interact with the App and to improve its functionality. The data collected includes:
App interaction events such as starting timers (timer_start), dismissing alarms (alarm_dismiss), alarm ringing events (alarm_ring, alarm_ring_stop), quick timer additions (timer_quick_add), permission requests and results (permission_result), navigation within the app (navigation), setting changes (sound, volume, vibration: setting_sound_change, setting_volume_change, setting_vibrate_change), and error displays (error_displayed).
Associated parameters like timer duration (total_minutes), dismissal methods (dismiss_type), quick add types (add_type), permission details (permission_type, show_rationale, status), navigation destinations (destination), setting values (volume, vibrate, media), and error messages (message).
This data is generally aggregated and anonymized and does not directly identify you. For more details, refer to Firebase Privacy and Security documentation. Google is responsible for the data collected by Firebase Analytics.
Firebase Crashlytics: We use Firebase Crashlytics (a service provided by Google) to collect crash report data. This helps us identify and fix bugs efficiently. The information collected includes device state information, unique device identifiers, and location data at the time of a crash. This data helps improve the stability of the App. Google is responsible for the data collected by Firebase Crashlytics.
Google AdMob: The App uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may use your device's advertising ID and other data (like approximate location, app interactions, diagnostic info) to serve personalized ads. This data is collected and processed by Google and potentially shared with its advertising partners to deliver relevant ads. Using AdMob requires us to have this privacy policy. For more information, please review Google's Privacy Policy.
2. How We Use Collected Information
The information collected through the third-party services mentioned above is used solely for the following purposes:
App Improvement: Analyzing usage patterns via Firebase Analytics helps us understand user needs and enhance the App's features and user experience.
Stability and Bug Fixing: Crash reports from Firebase Crashlytics allow us to diagnose and resolve issues promptly, improving the App's reliability.
Monetization: Displaying advertisements via Google AdMob helps support the development and maintenance of the App, allowing us to offer it potentially for free.
3. Data Sharing
We do not personally collect or share your personal information. However, the third-party services we use collect and may share data as follows:
Google (Firebase & AdMob): Data collected by Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, and AdMob is shared with Google. Google acts as a third party and processes this data according to its own privacy policies. AdMob may share data with its partners for advertising purposes.
4. User Rights and Choices
Since we do not directly collect personally identifiable information, traditional rights like accessing or deleting personal data held by us are not applicable. However, you have choices regarding data collection by third parties:
Personalized Advertising: You can typically opt-out of personalized advertising through your device's settings (e.g., "Opt out of Ads Personalization" on Android). You can also manage your Google Ad Settings.
Analytics: While direct opt-out from Firebase Analytics within the app might not be provided, the data collected is anonymized or aggregated.
5. Data Security
We rely on the security measures provided by the Android operating system and the robust security practices of Google for its Firebase and AdMob services to protect the data collected.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will take steps to delete it.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted within the App or on its Google Play Store listing. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically. Your continued use of the App after changes signifies your acceptance of the revised Policy.
