Hi, my name is Indi! I am currently in my second year of FIS, and it is my first year on the Okanagan Zone Ski Team. I began racing in Australia as a first-year U16, training with the Perisher Winter Sports Club. Over the last two years, I’ve been lucky enough to spend my summers over here in Canada training with the Vernon Ski Club and also in Italy with the Arc Ski Club, which eventually led me to join the OZST this season.
Last April, I had a pretty big setback when I broke my leg while training in Italy. It was a tough injury that meant I had to miss my entire home season in Australia. Because I was off the snow for so long, I didn’t get the chance to put any FIS points on the board, which made coming into this season a bit of a fresh start. It’s been a long road of rehab and hard work, but I am so glad to have made a good recovery. Honestly, I’m just stoked to be back in the gates and feel like I’m racing better than ever!
We recently got back from a race series in Nakiska, which was such an awesome experience. For two out of the three days, the conditions were perfect with a really solid racing surface. After my crash into the b-net first race, I was quite happy with my results for the rest of the trip. After Nakiska, we headed to Apex for some Super G training which was awesome as we don’t get to train speed back home.
These past eight weeks of training have been so much fun. Ive met some super cool people and seen some great improvements in my skiing. Hopefully I’ll be back in April for mega camp and then return to do a full season next year. I can’t wait to come back and keep training with this awesome team!
