They wrapped the city inside a buttered plastic bag and hit the road.
OkA is a noise-punk trio from Lisbon, formed by João Moreira, Alexandre Bandola, and João Mendes. The project gave its first steps in 2023, drinking from a systemic, intertwined, noisy, and persistent urge to make something that's meant to exist without having a place. A soaked bubble full of everything and covered with nothing. Steeped in bands like Melt-Banana, Deerhoof, and Naked City, and in artists like Marcel Duchamp, Andy Warhol, and Jack Smith, they bring us a mischievous mix of humor and explosion. This is how ombu is born, an EP produced by the band and mixed and mastered by João Galvão, that makes us dance with noise, think through distortion, and scream without getting arrested (at least for now).
