Imagine you stuck on traffic jam when you went to work in the monday morning. All you see are cars, motorbike, bus and other vehicles around you, and somehow some topics struck your head. How much is oil daily consumption of this city you live, even bigger daily consumption of this province, or even more bigger! How much is oil daily consumption of this country. Then you are wondering if there is any difference between oil price in your country and in other countries. Thats how i got the ideas for this project
First i need some datasets to begin work with, so i searching for data in open source website Kaggle and finally i found data that i need including oil price and oil consumption for over 100+ country.
The first step is cleaning data and wrangling data to remove bad data like empty data, duplicates data and filter data that i dont need to finish this project. This step is done with Python and MySQL. After i'm done with wrangling data, i went to data analysis and data visualization with Tableau, in this process i found some insights and choose the right visuals for my dataset.
This chart shows top 10 daily oil consumptions by country. It shows that United States and China dominated by more that 50% shares from total combined.
This map chart show the distribution of daily crude oil consumption across the world, the darker blue shows bigger daily crude oil consumption
It shows that the price of oil per liter around country shows similar value. But wait, it seems that North Korea is the only one with skyrocket oil price over $14.5
It also shows similar colour of country, indicating that oil price around country is quite similar.
To summarize, here are some points that we can take:
Daily crude oil consumption is dominated by U.S. and China with over 50% shares of total daily oil consumption, also noted that the top 10 countries that has most daily oil consumption is dominated by developed countries.
North Korea has the highest oil price per liter, but other country has quite similar oil price per liter. The skyrocketing price of oil in North Korea maybe affected by strict policies and some diplomatic relationship by North Korea
