Sign-up for the Online COURSE: 27786-18NEW

The cost to register is currently $75 which is paid online ($40.00 USSF fee, $10.00 State Administrative fee and $25.00 State clinic fee). These fees are not refundable, but may be used for up to two years once paid. New Referee Clinics cannot be used to satisfy the annual hours of instruction for currently registered referees. They may be used for current grade 9 referees to advance to grade 8.

Step 3: Locate an In-person CLINIC to attend and complete your certification requirements. Sponsoring organizations may charge an additional clinic fee of up to $25.00 to cover expenses for the day of a clinic. Advanced Upgrade Clinic

This clinic is used to satisfy the requirements for a referee to upgrade from a Grade 8 to a Grade 7A and from grade 7A to 6. This clinic is scheduled for the summer, usually in late July. Please see the current Administrative Handbook for the additional requirements to upgrade.

Fitness Tests

Grade 7A or Grade 6 referees and must pass an annual fitness test to register at advanced grades. Because of the requirements for the new fitness tests, they will no longer be held in the local districts. State level referees are expected to attend the fitness test held at the annual State Referee Re-Certification clinic unless arrangements have been made with the State Director of Instruction.

State Referee Re-certification Clinic

The State Referee Re-certification Clinic is held each year to provide advanced instruction for State Level Referees. The State Referee re-certification test is given at this meeting. All State Referees must attend this clinic or make arrangements with the State Director of Instruction to satisfy their in-service instructional requirements and take the State Referee test. Grade 7A referees are encouraged to attend this clinic and some Grade 7 referees may request to attend if space is available and with recommendation.

2019 Re-certification

Step 1: Online course and exam:

Grade 8 (Course # 27784-8REC ) OR

Grade 7 ( Course # 27836-7RCT) are the online re-certification courses that should be used for the majority of officials registering for 2019. Fees payable for the year are collected when you register for you recert course.

Step 2: Clinic in person (live attendance):

Either may attend clinic ending in: ## -RECRT

Referees in Ohio North can have are-certification hours met be completing the online course and attending an in person clinic. are required to attend a minimum of five (5) hours of instruction each year to maintain their status for the following year. These instructional hours will consist of hours in person at a re-certification clinic. There is no charge for currently licensed referees to attend these clinics but you must pay your annual registration fee of $65.00. There may be separate clinics for persons 18 (Grade 8) and over and for persons under 18 (Grade 7)

Adult Referee upgrade course: Grade 8 referees over the age of (18) or referees under the age of 18 with proper recommendation, may select this course: 27837-7UPG Material for Grade 7 is targeted toward adult learners and focuses on development of skills beyond the basic Laws of the Game. Grade 7 materials include: Game management, Dealing with dissent, Reading play, Teamwork, etc. These skills become critical for working adult games or more competitive youth matches. If interested, please contact you -District Referee Administrator- to obtain the override code needed to register.


Futsal in Ohio North

Futsal is played on a hard surface court with a weighted ball. It is an international indoor soccer game and is gaining popularity throughout the United States and Ohio. Persons completing this course will be certified to officiate Futsal tournaments held throughout Ohio and neighboring states.

Referees who desire to become certified to officiate Futsal are required to take the New Futsal Referee Course. This is Course # 26243 in OHN GameOfficials. Currently registered Futsal Referees will need to take an annual Futsal Re-Certification course to maintain their registration. This re-certification master class is course # 26933-FUTSR.
