The purpose of the OGJA shall be in support of men’s artistic gymnastics in Oregon to improve the quality and quantity of gymnastics judges, and to foster high ethical standards in the sport of gymnastics including accountability and the prevention of conflicts of interest. Membership is open to all ages 16 and above who (1) attend a judge's certification course sponsored or held by the Association, (2) pass either the Optional or Compulsory test provided by the national organization — the NGJA, (3) pay the required OGJA Association annual dues and those for the NGJA, and (4) is a member in good standing of the United States Gymnastics Association (USAG).

The Oregon (men's) Gymnastics Judging Association is one or the most respected and storied judging organizations in the country, with great influence on the sport of gymnastics and judge education. It plays home to STS, which trains all judges across the world in all gymnastics disciplines under the Federation of Gymnastics (FIG) including men's and women's artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, trampoline, aerobic gymnastics, acrobatic gymnastics, and parkour.
