PRIVACY POLICY - OGAME ORBIT UI
Effective Date: October 15, 2026
Last Updated: October 15, 2026
1. INTRODUCTION & CORE COMMITMENT
OGame Orbit UI ("we", "our", or "the extension") is an independent companion tool designed to assist OGame commanders with calculations, resource planning, and timers. We are fundamentally committed to protecting user privacy.
Our privacy philosophy is simple: YOUR DATA BELONGS TO YOU.
• We DO NOT collect personal data.
• We DO NOT track your browsing activity.
• We DO NOT transmit data to external servers or cloud databases.
• 100% of extension operations, calculations, and data storage occur locally on your machine.
------------------------------------------------------------
2. ARE ALL REQUESTED PERMISSIONS TRULY NECESSARY?
YES. We have strictly designed OGame Orbit UI according to Google's "Principle of Least Privilege". We deliberately eliminated all unnecessary, broad, or high-risk permissions commonly found in other extensions.
Here is why each requested permission is strictly necessary and how it protects your safety:
a) "storage" Permission
• Why it is needed: Saves your chosen settings (universe economy speed, fleet speed, sound toggles, and MSE ratio presets), active colony name, mine levels, and countdown timestamps.
• Privacy guarantee: Data is stored solely within Chrome's local storage sandbox (`chrome.storage.local`). It never leaves your browser and can be completely wiped at any time with a single click in the Settings tab.
b) "alarms" Permission
• Why it is needed: In Google Chrome Manifest V3, background service workers automatically enter a low-power idle state to save CPU and battery. The `chrome.alarms` API allows the browser to wake the background worker at an exact specified time to update the badge icon (e.g., displaying "🚀" or "READY") and ring an alert chime when a fleet or building countdown finishes.
• Privacy guarantee: Alarms only measure elapsed time; they do not access or collect any browsing or personal data.
c) Host Permission ("*://*.ogame.gameforge.com/*")
• Why it is needed: Allows the extension's content script to run exclusively on official OGame game tabs. This enables real-time synchronization of your current metal, crystal, and deuterium counts, calculation of storage overflow warnings, and injection of ROI hints next to mines in the supplies view.
• Privacy guarantee: The host permission is strictly scoped to `*.ogame.gameforge.com/*`. The extension CANNOT and DOES NOT run on or access any other websites (e.g. search engines, banking, social media, or other browser tabs).
------------------------------------------------------------
3. PERMISSIONS WE DELIBERATELY DO NOT USE
To ensure your security and ensure rapid, friction-free Chrome Web Store verification, we specifically rejected the following invasive permissions:
• NO "<all_urls>" or broad host access: We only interact with OGame.
• NO "tabs" permission: We do not monitor your tabs or open websites.
• NO "webRequest" or "webRequestBlocking": We never intercept network traffic.
• NO "cookies" permission: We never read or touch your session cookies or credentials.
• NO "unlimitedStorage": Standard storage quota is more than sufficient; no excessive storage rights requested.
------------------------------------------------------------
4. DATA COLLECTION AND USE
• Personal Data: None collected, processed, or stored.
• Financial Information: None.
• Account Credentials: We never ask for, access, or store your OGame username, email, or password. All data is read client-side from the already rendered DOM of your active session.
• Analytics & Tracking: We do not integrate Google Analytics, telemetry libraries, or tracking pixels.
------------------------------------------------------------
5. DATA RETENTION AND DELETION
All configuration and empire data resides in your browser's local profile. You can reset or delete all stored information at any time:
1. Open the OGame Orbit UI popup.
2. Go to the "Settings" tab.
3. Click "Reset Data".
Alternatively, uninstalling the extension from `chrome://extensions` immediately removes all associated local storage.
------------------------------------------------------------
6. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES & GAMEFORGE DISCLAIMER
