Elizabeth McConkie*

Elizabeth McConkie comes from an extremely talented family of musicians and she brought her skill to our combo, along with her brother, James McConkie. Elizabeth started as an oboe student in 5th grade, but was quickly introduced to the jazz world and saxophone after she developed a love for it. 

She has won many awards and has won many competitions. Along with being a recipient of Sycamores scholarships, she has also received a best of day performance Solo and Ensemble. Elizabeth was also principal Oboe at District 2/8 ILMEA of the Senior Orchestra and was a member of the All State Orchestra in Peoria. 

Elizabeth was a past member of Sycamores Jazz Band, Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Chamber Choir, Jazz Choir, and their Varsity Tennis program. Outside of school, she was a member of the CSA Sinfonia as the Principal Oboe.  

We bid her farewell for a while as she heads off to college and her church’s mission where she will be traveling to Paris and spend the next few months exploring France!
