Off the Chem ってなに？

　お子さま理科大学のドクトル・ホリチャック★グループでは「オフ・ザ・ケム Off the Chem」を合言葉に、化学工作を研究しています。「オフ・ザ・ケム」は「オフ外れた・休憩の」と「ケミストリー化学」をつないだ造語で、「たがが外れた化学・休憩の化学」を表しています。はしゃいで・ゆるりと化学を考えようというのが、私たちのグループのやりかたなのです。この合言葉をよく見ていただくと、「オフザケ」という言葉がまぎれ込んでいることがわかります。私たちのグループが生み出す教材（工作）では、こういった遊び心や隠し味も大切にしています。これまでに、遊び心と学習意欲を同時に刺激する、隠し味の利いた教材（工作）として【ペーパークラフト★MOF模型】【レゴブロック★触媒模型】【電子部品★分子模型】【ピタゴラ装置★質量分析計】などを開発してきました。そして、これらの教材（工作）の教育効果をまとめ、Journal of Chemical Education や Chemistry Teacher International をはじめとする化学教育系誌上で報告してきました。
