The self-portrait series a small collection of analog collages that represent my perception of myself as a human being. Made in 2021, I used little things I already owned for years at that point.

Things such as dried flowers, cutouts from magazines I purchased as a teen, and my father's old Reader's Digest magazines from the 90s -- even construction papers we bought for school but never got to fully use then. (I'm two years out of college by the time I made these.)

I admittedly don't like to spend a lot of time ruminating my physical features. I like to think of them as things passed down to me from ancestors to ancestors.

Hence, all the covered things on the women's faces in this collage series. For the most part, I see myself as a collection of the things, people, and creatures I love most in this life.

As Taylor Swift once wrote, I wanna be defined by the things that I love. Not the things I hate, not the things that I'm afraid of. I just think that you are what you love.
