Fall 23/24 openings

ODU positions are not available anymore!

Hi! I am an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science at Old Dominion University (ODU). My research interests lie broadly in AI, ML, and DM and specifically in data streams, online learning, real-time decision-making, and explainable/equitable AI. Dr. He's lab has consistent publications at top-tier DM and AI venues, including AAAI, IJCAI, WWW, ICDM, TKDE, TNNLS, TII, ACMMM, to name a few. Please find the specifics on my personal page.

I am looking for self-motivated PhD and Master students to join my lab, starting from Fall 2023.  PhD students will be fully supported as graduate teaching assistant (TA) or research assistant (RA), with tuition waiver ($29,127) + stipend $2000/month; MS students will be supported as RA with tuition waiver.

P.S.: Norfolk is a city with cheap life expenses, where you can expect an enjoyable life with such stipend.

ODU locates in the city of Norfolk, which let students enjoy convenient transportation through the so-called DMV district (District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia) --  to wit, 4 hours driving to Washington DC and 6 hours to New York City. ODU arranges a peaceful research life, which has spurred a very strong computer science program with numerous IEEE Fellows, National Science Foundation CAREER Award winners, ONR Young Investigator Awardees, top conference chairs, most highly cited researchers in the world of science, and many others. Students who graduated from our program joined Cisco, Epic, IBM Research, Google Research, AT&T Labs, Amazon, etc., and joined research schools such as Drexel University and Temple University.
