Shane O'Donovan – Orthopaedic Therapist & Sports Injury Specialist
Hey there! I’m Shane, a qualified Orthopaedic Therapist with a big passion for keeping people moving, whether you’re chasing a sliotar down the pitch or just trying to get up the stairs without wincing.
I grew up in a house where weekends meant Hurling matches, rugby boots in the hall, and the constant debate over who’d win the premiership. From a young age I was out on the pitch myself: hurling and football for the club, a few years of rugby (yes, I was the one diving head-first into rucks), and later discovering the joys (and bruises) of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I’ve also spent more than my fair share of hours on golf courses trying to look like I know what I’m doing, and in the gym lifting heavy things just to put them back down again.
That lifelong love of sport led me straight into a degree in Sport and Exercise Science, where I nerded out over biomechanics, injury prevention, sports analysis, psychology, nutrition and and how to get athletes back doing what they love, faster and stronger. I went on to train as an Orthopaedic Therapist because I wanted to work hands-on with the aches, pains, and niggles that every hurler, golfer, weekend warrior, and BJJ white belt knows all too well.
What I bring to the treatment table is pretty simple:
A proper understanding of how bodies break (because I’ve broken mine the same ways!)
Up-to-date, evidence-based rehab that actually fits around your training and matches
A zero-judgement zone: whether you’re a senior club player, a corporate 5-a-side hero, or someone who just wants to keep up with the grandkids, I’ve got you.
I know what it’s like to be told “rest for six weeks” when you’ve a championship coming up, or to be hobbling around after ankle lock on a Tuesday night BJJ class. My job is to get you back out there safely, moving better than before, and maybe even throw in a bit of craic along the way.
