This Privacy Policy explains what data the Odak mobile application processes, why and how it is used, who it may be shared with, and what rights you have. By using Odak, you agree to this policy.
Odak is, first and foremost, a personal planner that runs on your device. Most of your data never leaves your phone. The sections below clearly identify the specific cases where data does leave the device.
1. Data we process
1.1. Data you provide
Name (optional): The name you optionally enter on first launch. Used only for in-app personalization and stored on your device.
Content: The tasks, notes, reminders, calendar events, and their details that you create. Stored in a local database on your device.
Secure Notes: Anything you write into "Secure Notes" is stored on your device, encrypted with a key unique to your device (Android Keystore). It is never included in cloud backups and never leaves the device.
1.2. Data processed for AI features
When you use the AI coach and the smart/voice task features, the text you type or speak is sent to third-party AI providers (Google Gemini API and Groq) in order to generate a response.
This text is sent only to fulfill your request; we do not use it for advertising. We recommend you avoid entering sensitive personal information (passwords, card numbers, ID numbers, etc.) in the AI chat.
1.3. Contacts (address book)
In the "task actions" feature (calling/messaging/emailing directly from a task with one tap), you pick a contact via the system contact picker.
Only the selected contact's number/email and label are stored locally on your device, in order to perform that action. We do not read, copy, or send your entire address book to any server.
1.4. Data collected automatically
Advertising data (free tier only): Ads are served by Google AdMob, which may process information such as the advertising ID in accordance with Google's policies. No ads are shown under an Odak Plus (premium) subscription.
Core app preferences: Settings such as theme, language, font, and notification time are stored on your device.
1.5. Location data (only if you turn it on)
The location-based reminders feature accesses your location only after you enable it yourself. To notify you when you approach or leave a place you've saved (Home, Work, etc.), we use the device's geofencing service and the background location permission.
Your location stays on your device. We do not send your location coordinates to our servers, store them, or share them with anyone. Geofence monitoring runs entirely on-device.
Choosing a place (map/address): When you pick a place on the map, map tiles are fetched from OpenFreeMap; to resolve the address of the point you picked, the coordinate is sent to the OpenStreetMap Nominatim service.
Nearby suggestions (premium, optional): If you enable this feature and ask the coach for nearby places, the relevant coordinate is sent to the OpenStreetMap Overpass service to find nearby businesses.
You can turn these features off at any time from Settings → Location, and you can revoke the location permission from your device settings. While the feature is off, we do not access your location.
2. Data storage
Local storage: Most data — tasks, notes, settings — is kept only on your device, in the app's private database. Uninstalling the app deletes this data as well.
Secure Notes: Encrypted with a device-bound key; it cannot be decrypted on another device and is never uploaded to the cloud.
Cloud backup (optional, only if you turn it on): When you enable cloud backup, an encrypted copy of your data is uploaded to a private, app-specific space (appDataFolder) in your own Google Drive account. Only Odak can access this space — no other user, and not us, can see it. Secure Notes are never included in this backup.

4. Google User Data — Limited Use disclosure
Odak's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Specifically, we use Google Drive (drive.appdata) access only to:
Upload and restore an encrypted backup of your data to your own Drive, at your request.
We do not use data obtained from Google Drive for advertising purposes, do not allow humans to read it, and do not transfer it to third parties except to provide user-facing features you have requested.
5. Data sharing and sale
We do not sell your personal data.
We share data only with the service providers listed in section 3 above, only to the extent necessary to provide the relevant feature, and only for that purpose.
We may disclose data where required by applicable law.
6. Data retention and deletion
Local data: Uninstalling the app deletes all local data on your device (tasks, notes, secure notes, settings).
Cloud backup: You can turn off cloud backup, or remove Odak's access to your Google account to delete the backup: from a computer, go to drive.google.com → Settings → Manage apps → Odak → Delete hidden app data / Disconnect.
Revoke account access: You can revoke Odak's access at any time from your Google Account, at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
7. Security
Cloud backups are encrypted (AES-256) before they leave your device.
Secure Notes are encrypted with a device-bound key.
Data in transit is sent over secure connections (HTTPS/TLS).
No method is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.
8. Children
Odak is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
9. Your rights (GDPR / Turkey's KVKK)
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your data. You can reach us at beydemir.technology@gmail.com to exercise these rights.
10. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will provide notice of material changes within the app or on this page. The current version is always published at this location.
