Private Sector - 1L Summer 2025
Class of 2027
Class of 2027
This MyLaw site has more on timing and resources (including NALP Directory) to find opportunities. Application periods generally begin December 1. Keep in mind that most firms only hire a handful of 1Ls, so competition is high, and most of these firms hire 1Ls through a diversity fellowship or IP patent law fellowship for students with a STEM background. The vast majority of 2L summer associates did something else during their 1L summer; the goal for 1L summer is to gain legal experience.
See resources on the Diversity MyLaw site for postings and check the Symplicity job board; deadlines can arise over winter break. Because these opportunities are comprehensively listed on the linked Excel sheet, we do not duplicate these listings here.
For a sampling of opportunities, see this MyLaw site and check the Symplicity job board.
Spring semester hiring is typical. A handful start posting early, and you may start seeing application periods open in January although later is more common. There can be entities that post even earlier, like Apple, which typically posts in December although its application period tends to extend until March.
They often don’t know their hiring needs until later in the spring and close to finals, so most 1Ls pursue other opportunities.
Having Trouble with the Links? For some of the links, you must be logged into the website in order for the link to direct you to the posting. If you are prompted to log in, do so, and then return to this page to select the link again.
*OCS does not specifically endorse the above opportunities, and students are encouraged to research positions prior to contacting and/or interviewing with potential employers.
**The opportunities re-posted on this site are collected from employer-posting sites with the assumption that the source sites are in compliance with all applicable laws including pay transparency laws.
Please note that this site includes a sampling of opportunities, and students are still encouraged to check Symplicity often for additional postings.
