THE EMOTIONAL SUPPORT TEAM

WELCOME

The Emotional Support Team (EST) provides emotional and behavioral health services to all students throughout their enrollment at One Bright Ray Community High School. EST members address students in both individually and group sessions, in effort to best support their bio-psycho-social needs. Social Workers/Counselors are available to assist students adjust and integrate to an alternative education setting. EST members will help identify needs that may be inferring with academic abilities, by providing counseling services and other needed services. To ensure the safety of our students’ livelihoods, EST members may also refer to additional off-site resources as needed.

AVAILABLE SUPPORT

Counseling Services

Group counseling sessions may occur virtually using different online platforms, and will be geared towards pre-determined topics during scheduled days/times. Individual sessions may also be available virtually or by phone, as needed. To schedule a meeting, please contact us directly at EST@onebrightray.com.


Case Management

One Bright Ray has collaborated with numerous community agencies to address family needs, including but not limited to, housing services, financial advisement, employment opportunities, food banks, etc. If you or your family is in need of additional support, please contact your onsite EST member.


Engagement Teams

In effort to maintain student engagement and retention, OBR Engagement Teams will meet with students and families to discuss limitations to school attendance and create a plan of action to improve these conditions. Additional referrals and services may become available as needed.


Crisis Response

A crisis is defined as any event that is expected to led to an unstable and dangerous situation affecting an individual, group, community, or entire society. Addressing crisis can be a scary situation and there are a lot of unknowns. EST members are available daily to provide support virtually as needed.

All students have the right to privacy during counseling sessions with a Emotional Support Team member. This ensures information gathered during sessions will not be shared with others, without the student’s permission. Occasionally, EST members may seek advisement and consultation from the Director of Emotional Support and/or school administrators. Legally, consent is not required in the question of student safety;

One Bright Ray is dedicated to ensuring the health and safety of our student body, including online safety. Due to virtual learning and usage, One Bright Ray staff will continue to take additional precautions to warrant secured and private virtual meetings and/or chats.
