Fairchild House is located on the south end of campus just in front of South Hall and across the street from Warner Concert Hall. It has the advantage of being one of the smaller dorms on campus with an occupancy of just 70 students divided among the building's only room configuration of open doubles. This dorm is a popular choice for Conservatory students due to its proximity to the Conservatory as well as a good choice for those who want a smaller, more personal dorm experience
Like Burton, Fairchild's noise negatives lie largely in the fact that the dorm only has open doubles and thus the same issues with open doubles from Burton apply to Fairchild. However, Fairchild is smaller and has a generally more quiet culture than Burton does. There are occasional parties or gatherings but nothing regular and the walls seem to contain sound pretty well Because of this, Fairchild is ideal for upperclassmen who have trusted friends they want to room with and want to avoid noise.
