Our project is to create a small device that will read OBD2 data from a vehicle and transmit this data to a software application and display it in a clear and easy to understand manner. The small device will feature a custom PCB board designed by our team and will be small enough to plug directly into the OBD2 port of a vehicle.
Our teams goal with this project is to provide vehicle owners with a tool that will allow them to better monitor the status of their vehicle.
More information on both the small device and software are provided below.
OBD2 stands for On Board Diagnostics which aims to Provide more detailed information about engine issues and vehicle performance via a 16 pin connection. The OBD2 port is typically located underneath the steering column or dash.
Our teams unique hardware will be a custom PCB board that implements with the STN1110 chip and interfaces with the Particle Electron board.
Our teams unique software will be a windows application that recieives OBD2 data being sent from our custom PCB board. The application will retrieve data from the particle cloud and display it in an easy to understand way.
