“O Fio da Água. Hidden Waters and Floods in Esposende” (March 14, 10:30 AM, Saturday) Canal Interceptor, Esposende. This walk explores the "in-between" of artificial protection and flooding, with special attention to hydrological cycles and subterranean water flows within the urban fabric. We will walk, talk, and experience together the city's hidden water pulse, feeling our home as a living, permeable system.
“O Fio da Água. Tidal Rhythms, the Friendship between the Estuary and the Dune” (March 15, 10:30 AM, Sunday) Fão Estuary. Through collective mapping and walking, we will explore human coexistence with tidal rhythms. This journey explores the "lunar landscapes" and the "friendship" between the Dune and the Estuary as a natural cycle of our community.
“O Fio da Água: Water Uncertainties and Ancestral Knowledge with the Neiva River” (March 21, 10:30 AM, Saturday) Associação Rio Neiva. On this collective journey, we will witness the dialogue between the Neiva River and the Atlantic Ocean. We will connect ancestral rituals with modern climate realities, exploring socio-ecological uncertainties. Together, we will feel our belonging to the river's flow, with special attention to its mouth as a place of transition and resilient future-building.
“O Fio da Água: Flood Memories and Future Imaginaries” (March 22, 10:30 AM, Sunday) Ermita de Nuestra Señora de Bonanza, Ofir. In this final gathering, we will activate a "Flood Conversation Club" to connect memories and rituals from the past with future imaginaries. Walking through a territory shaped by historical connections with water, we offer a space for intergenerational dialogue with those who carry flood memories and those who wish to learn and imagine together.

“Boo das Arêas” in Esposende — Archive, Research and Artistic Practices
A session at the Municipal Archive of Esposende where archival research, historical sources, artistic practice, and community participation come together around the theme of coastal changes.
Drawing on the historical documentation explored by the researcher Ana Isabel Lopes, the session proposes a dynamic engagement with the archive, examining how local communities responded to drifting sands and adapted to coastal transformations between the 16th and 19th centuries. In dialogue with these materials, artist-researcher Seila Fernández Arconada will share an artistic reflection based on her project “O Fio Da Água: Embracing Water’s Flow for Resilient Futures” presented as a multidisciplinary installation on display at the Archive throughout the month, extends the reflection focusing on human-water relationships, flooding and imaginative water (co)existence. Throughout the session, participants will be invited to engage directly with the themes and materials presented, fostering conversation and collective reflection in a shared space that connects past and present while encouraging dialogue on the coastal challenges of today.

Water Challenges in Esposende — 3 Artistic Perspectives
Opening panel discussion for the Águas Vivas Forum Fest, organized by the environmental association Rio Neiva.
A conversation bringing together the three artistic residencies developed in Esposende under the S+T+ARTS AQUA MOTION project, exploring different approaches to water challenges in the region. Drawing from their processes and results, the artists will share practices, research, and perspectives that intersect art, science, and community, revealing new ways to observe, interpret, and relate to water.
This is a moment to go behind the scenes of the work they have developed and open a dialogue around the multiple layers — both visible and invisible — that flow through the territory.

FLOOD MEMORIES – EX-VOTOS AND IMAGINED FUTURES
Workshop led by Seila Fernández Arconada
Participatory workshop exploring memories, stories, and collective imaginaries connected to water, floods, and the territory. Through conversation, mapping, creative experimentation, and collective making, participants are invited to share lived experiences, local stories, and perceptions related to floods and changing waterscapes in Esposende. Inspired by the tradition of ex-votos and by speculative approaches to future resilience, the activity creates a space where memory, imagination, and community encounter each other.
Between storytelling and hands-on creation, the workshop will contribute to a collective archive of watery memories and possible futures – transforming personal narratives into shared reflections on how communities live with water, uncertainty, and change.
Bring photographs or documents related to the floods in Esposende to be digitised and added to the Municipal Archive.

Talk with Seila Fernández Arconada
On June 18th, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM, PISO welcomes Spanish artist Seila Fernandez Arconada for an informal conversation about her work and career.
The discussion will take her latest installation—currently on display at the Águas Vivas festival, organized by the Rio Neiva Environmental NGO in Esposende—as a starting point. From there, it will explore themes such as the intersection of art and science, artistic residencies, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the role of art in social and environmental contexts.

O FIO DA ÁGUA, EMBRACING WATER’S FLOW FOR RESILIENT FUTURES
An installation in transformation while the artist remains in the space as a durational engagement with locals, from one to one encounters to group spaces, from discussions to hand on activities.
O Fio da Água is a process-based, evolving exhibition by artist Seila Fernández Arconada, exploring the relationships between water, territory, and community in Esposende. This living space functions as an evolving archive, where memories, flood stories, and lived experiences of water are shared, collected, and reinterpreted throughout the festival.
The public is invited to bring photographs related to floods and inundations in Esposende, which will be digitised and included in the “Flooding Photo Collection in Esposende”, contributing to the creation of this living archive.
The artist remains present in the space during the exhibition period, fostering moments of encounter and dialogue with the public and encouraging active participation in this evolving process.
