How to make a custom stroke style in Photoshop
The process may be a bit different if you use different software. | This could possibly work in After Effects, but i haven't tested it.

1. Make a new Photoshop document:
You need to make a new Photoshop document to make this. Don't worry, you can export the image later and add it to any project you'd like after the tutorial.
2. Add a black background behind the text object:
I'm not sure if it's necessary, but i'd add it just in case
Source:
3. Enable the stroke option in the blending options of the text object:
Right-click the layer -> blending options -> click the box next to stroke
4. Set the settings:
Example used in the video: (* = must be set to this value)
Size: 32 px
Position: Outside
Blend mode: Divide *
Opacity: 100
Overprint: disabled
Colour: Dark Green (#0c3f00)
Note: While you can use any colour, don't use white because it makes the stroke invisible.
5. Grab a background and place it between the text and the black background:
Make sure the image doesn't use many colours. I find images that are red work best with the dark green stroke colour used in the video, but it may be different if you use a different colour.
stroke colours that work best with background colours:

You can adjust the background before the next step if you'd like.
6. Above the text layer, add brightness/contrast adjustment layers with -150 brightness until the background is completely black.
Adjustments -> brightness/contrast -> properties -> drag the brightness slider to the lowest value (then repeat until completely black)
7. Export the image, then disable all the brightness/contrast layers, the stroke blending option, background & background adjustment layers.
Basically, disable everything except for the text.
8. Import the image and place it above the text, then use the magic eraser tool to erase the background and the text.
Find the magic eraser tool by clicking the eraser tool and selecting it from the menu that appears.
Congrats, you can now export the image and add it to any image while keeping the stroke style!
