THURSDAY NIGHT:
There will be activities and early check in from 5-7 pm.
FRIDAY:
Registration will open again Friday morning at 8 am.
There will be up to 11 sessions on Friday, November 15, 2024 from 8 am - 6 pm.
SATURDAY:
There will be up to 7 additional sessions from 8 am - 2:30 pm at the Hyatt-- Rochester.
SATURDAY EVENING:
One optional social event will follow Saturday evening about 5pm with an activity and dinner organized through Visit Rochester!

Thanks to the region’s fresh produce, historic background, and diversity, Rochester's culinary scene is an intoxicating melange of flavors. From traditional American fare to modern fusions, a local meal in Rochester will never disappoint.
A GARBAGE WHAT?
A GARBAGE WHAT?
The “Rochester Garbage Plate” is a must-try for visitors, but what exactly is it? Legend has it that local restaurateur, Nick Tahou created the popular street food consisting of hot dogs, beans, home fries, dressed in mustard, onions, and meat sauce and called it “Hots & Potatoes.” The meal was a hit and remains the number one menu item. The name came from a group of college students who saw the meal and asked for a plate with “all the garbage on it.” The name stuck and though the Garbage Plate has been trademarked by Nick Tahou Hots, you can still find variations of the plate all over Rochester. Each restaurant puts its own spin on it, including healthy versions, upscale versions, and even a sushi version.

If you’re a craft beer enthusiast traveling through Rochester, be sure to stop by Genesee Brew House. The oldest brewery in New York State, this local spot serves cold brews, delicious meals and a stunning view of High Falls.
Jukebox tunes and Lake Ontario breezes can be found at Marge’s Lakeside Inn. Located in Seabreeze, NY, this dive bar has been a local favorite since the 1960s and is the perfect place to unwind.

Thank you very much for being willing to share your time and talents with NYS TESOL. We know our conference will be a great success because of the amazing support you volunteers provide!
EXPECTATIONS:
We will have a VIRTUAL volunteer meeting to briefly go over roles at the conference, questions you might have and share the in-person schedule, so that you can sign up for volunteering. This will be scheduled closer to the actual conference date.
Each morning of the conference, you will check-in slightly earlier than others to receive important updates that will surely arise as we get closer to the event.
At the sessions you sign up for, you will greet attendees at the door, introduce the presenter, offer to give a 5 minute warning at the end of the session, and thank everyone at the end of the presentation.
