Have you ever wondered why the electronic medical record (EMR) is so complex, or thought about ways to make it easier for doctors and patients to use? Do you think about the massive amounts of data that are captured by our healthcare system and how to leverage it for research and innovation while protecting privacy? If so, join the club!
Clinical informatics is the study of information technology (IT) and how it can be applied to healthcare delivery. The goal of the ED Informatics APT is to foster interest and participation in clinical informatics among ED residents. This includes hands-on experience to improve physician workflows and optimize patient care using IT strategies such as clinical-decision support, EMR optimization, data analytics, and many others. We welcome residents with a general interest in all things related to data, as well as those with specific interests in machine learning, big data, order sets, scoring tools, dashboards, or any other IT topic. No programming experience required!
